Mulch Decks

 With the introduction of their first mulching deck some 10 years ago, Westwood revolutionised the mulch mowing process. The triple bladed deck features three moulded internal compartments that allow the grass to be cut, then cut again. The minute grass particles are forced back deep into the turf. To the naked eye the mulched grass is hardly visible, and after only a short period of time the clippings decompose, returning valuable moisture and nutrients back to the roots of the grass plant.

Westwood mulching decks are available across their range of garden tractors and ride-on mowers. Sizes start at just 76cm (30") for the C330 Mini, up to 127cm (50") for the larger tractors and X-Series models. Although mulch mowing does not in itself deliver a striped lawn, it does provide a neat and tidy finish all year round. A Westwood fitted with a mulching deck can also be used as a tough roughcutter, easily tackling orchards and paddocks.

Many of our customers use a mulch deck with a grass collector (PGC) thereby allowing collection of clippings when the lawn has been left for a while, such as first cut of the year or after a holiday period. They can then raise the PGC or easily remove it, for the remainder of the cutting/mulching season.
